Whether the running game is working or not, the Denver Broncos must stick with it. If they can setup Trevor Siemian with some short, easy throws on third downs and maybe go long every now and then, this team will come away with a second-straight win.
The Indianapolis Colts are a bad football team. They have issues everywhere, which means that Denver could exploit for a big win. However, the Broncos are averaging just 13.5 points per game on the road. That will have to chance in this one.
Broncos-Colts Matchups
- The Broncos defense owns third downs. They are third best in short yardage third downs, first in medium distance third downs, and fifth in long yardage third downs. Meanwhile, the Colts defense is worst in third and short and second worst in third and long.
- Siemian still isn’t very good, but last week should give us some hope. He currently ranks as the second worst quarterback outside the pocket and the fifth-worst inside the pocket. The Broncos should run the ball 35+ times again this week.
- Siemian is also the worst rated quarterback in the NFL when pressured. The good news for Trevor is that Colts defense has third-worst in the NFL at generating pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
- Big plays. The Broncos defense is second-best at limiting the big play, but even more importantly, the Colts defense is the worst in the NFL when it comes to giving up big chunks of yards. There will be points to be had for the Broncos offense if they play a clean game of football.
The Broncos match up well in nearly every facet of this game against the Colts. That tells me we should be worried, because this Broncos team has proven it can’t be trusted to play a clean game of football.
Do you think they’ll put together enough positive plays in this game to win?
