A Von Miller bobblehead for my dad

As bloggers for Mile High Report, we get emails from time to time from companies wanting us to promote their services or products. Ordinarily, I’m wary of these overtures but we recently were contacted by the Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum with news that they were unveiling a new limited edition bobblehead of Von Miller in his Texas A&M uniform.

In Horse Tracks the day after Father’s Day I went into detail about how I became a Broncos fan and it all centers around my father. You see, my father would not be the football fan he is without the Texas A&M Aggies.

When he went to school there in the cadet corps in the early 1960’s, it was an all male college in the middle of nowhere Texas. With little else to distract him from his studies, my dad enjoyed watching A&M play football, even though they were the perennial doormat of the old Southwest conference.

In the 1970’s he moved to Denver, became a Broncos fan, and I came shortly thereafter. Year after year, I had to watch my dad get his heart crushed by A&M, or the Broncos, and sometimes both, but he always remains a fan.

I remember asking my dad bout Aggies who became Broncos when I was younger. He could only recall one player. Ray Kubala, a Second Team All-American center, who was the Aggies best player from when my father went to school.

“The crowd would get all fired up when they introduced him. RRRrrrrrraaaay KUUUUUUUBALLLLLAH! Everybody would go wild and then we’d lose. At least it was fun for a little bit.”

When Von Miller joined the Broncos you can imagine how excited he was. He had seen what Von had done to opposing quarterbacks in college and knew exactly what he would mean to Denver going forward.

For him it was a perfect marriage of the best of his college football team and his beloved professional team. It’s really cool that he gets to enjoy Von in this way and it makes me happy to see it.

That’s why when the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame reached out to me to see if I would be interested in writing an article on their release of the Aggie Von Miller bobblehead and then offered me a free sample, I could not say yes fast enough.

I didn’t want the sample for me, I’m giving it to my dad. I knew he’d love it without having seen it, but when it arrived there was something else in the box.

THEY INCLUDED THE BRONCOS VON WITH IT!

I wasn’t expecting that. Not only are they both awesome, but the Broncos Von has a little rotary sack tracker on its base so you can keep track of the havoc he is unleashing on the league right there on your desk.

Not only does my father get an a really cool Christmas gift, I get a sweet bobblehead of my own! Dad is going to be so surprised to get this for Christmas. That is, so long as he doesn’t check MHR today. Shhhhh... nobody blow this for him.

You can get these bobbleheads today from the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. The bobbleads are officially licensed and individually numbered. They are in stock now and are available for $40 each and are only available from the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum.
