Shane Ray needs to show he is an every down guy next season

With DeMarcus Ware possibly leaving the Denver Broncos, is next season a make or break for Shane Ray?

Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro on The Afternoon Drive today discussed whether or not Shane Ray is ready to shine on this elite Denver Broncos defense. They started off talking about the Broncos Super Bowl LII odds, which were surprisingly high for a team without an elite quarterback or a stable running game.

Once Eric and Les discussed DeMarcus Ware’s future, it became evident that his presence would stand in the way of the growth of Ray or Shaquil Barrett. Both of those young players need playing time and 2017 is the year they need to get that playing time.

For Ray, a 2015 first round draft pick, this is a make or break year for him. If Barrett outperforms Ray in 2017, then the Broncos may end up skipping that fifth year option when the time comes.

Bonus Listen

Did the New England Patriots win Super Bowl LI or did the Atlanta Falcons lose it? I personally think that the Falcons defense was on the field for 93 plays and they just got gassed. Had Kyle Shanahan run the ball more in the second half, that comeback likely comes up short for Tom Brady.
