The Broncos sign the former Oakland Raiders tackle

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

According to 9NEWS Denver's Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos have signed former Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Menelik Watson to a three-year, $18.3 million dollar deal.

The former Raider follows his former Offensive Coordinator to Denver and will compete at the right tackle position with Donald Stephenson and Ty Sambrailo this offseason.

Watson was born in Manchester England and attended High School in England as well before heading to Florida State for college. After his college career, Watson was regarded as one of the top tackles in the 2013 NFL draft and ended up going to the Oakland Raiders in the second round, pick 42.

His NFL career has not started as he hoped, however. He has been sidelined with injuries throughout his career and has played no more than 12 games during an NFL season. He does have 17 career starts under his belt, however, so he isn't completely inexperienced.

Watson is a high upside signing because he entered the league with a ton of upside, but has yet to reach it because of nagging injuries sidelining him. So obviously the Broncos hope he can shake the injury bug and finally reach his potential with the team going forward.

Watson will likely compete with Donald Stephenson and Ty Sambrailo for the starting right tackle spot this offseason. He will also join Ronald Leary as a new member of the Denver Broncos offensive line.

Right now, the Broncos offensive line looks like this:

Left Tackle: ??? Left Guard: Ronald Leary Center: Matt Paradis Right Guard: Max Garcia Right Tackle: Menelik Watson

The left tackle remains a big question mark and I believe the Broncos will look to address it through the trade market and/or the draft as well.

Next, on the Broncos list is finding an upgrade at right defensive end and finding a replacement for Sylvester Williams at the nose tackle position. They have been connected to Johnathan Hankins, so he might be the next to sign. Other options include Bennie Logan, Dontari Poe, and Lawerence Guy.
