On Monday, the Broncos introduced defensive linemen Domata Peko and Zach Kerr but didn't stop adding to the defensive side of the ball. They announced that they have signed outside linebacker/edge rusher Kasim Edebali to a one-year deal on Monday.
Edebali is a German-born outside linebacker who has played in three NFL seasons. He entered the league as an undrafted Free Agent in the 2014 NFL Draft and signed with the New Orleans Saints. He since has played the past three seasons for them. They recently declined his tender and allowed him to become an unrestricted free agent.
He is listed at 6-2, 253lbs and will provide depth at outside linebacker/edge rusher as well as provide depth on Special Teams.
In four seasons in the NFL, Edabali totaled 54 tackles, 8 sacks, 3 pass deflections, and one forced fumble. This past season he totaled 11 tackles and 1 sack. His best season came in 2015 when he totaled 18 tackles and 5 sacks for the New Orleans Saints.
Now he will fill the same role that Dekoda Watson played for the Broncos last season. Provide depth at the outside linebacker position, but likely be active on gamedays as a Special Team's ace. 2016 undrafted rookie Vontarrius Dora will likely push Edebali for a roster spot this summer. If you remember, Dora was one of the preseason stars last summer and ended up on the Broncos Practice Squad before finishing the season on the Broncos 53-man roster.
Fanspeak Mock Draft:
Did a seven round mock draft using Bleacher Report's Matt Miller's draft board.
Tell me what you think?
I'm against the entire OT in the first round talk but decided to go with it for obvious reasons. I like how it came out, and Miller's board had certain prospects much different than the CBS board that I often use. So I came away with some guys later in the draft than I expected.
(I also forgot to get a running back later so I panicked a bit and took the Ronnie Hillman clone in the 5th round).
