The 6'6", 322lb Robinson is an interesting prospect because of the differing opinions about him. Is he a left tackle, does he start out at right tackle first before moving to the left side, is he a right tackle only, or his he better suited to be a guard? Those differing opinions have made it hard to lock down when and where Robinson will go in the draft. Some mock drafts out there have Robinson going to the Broncos at pick 20 while others have him falling to their second round pick, so opinions are rather varied out there.
This is also the second time the Broncos will be meeting with Robinson during the draft process. They first met with him during the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine where he had a formal interview with the team. Now he will visit the Broncos once again at their facility today.
A second visit could point to some serious interest in a prospect or it could show they want to meet him again so they can get to know the player a little bit better before deciding to spend a first or second round pick on him. He reportedly interviewed rather well at the Combine so I'd lean towards having some serious interest.
Something that likely bodes well for Cam's draft prospects is NFL Network's Mike Mayock moving Robinson from his top interior player to his top offensive tackle. Scouts, coaches, and GM's likely have told Mayock the NFL's opinion of Robinson and he made this change despite what his opinions are.
I have some concerns about Robinson, but would not be upset if he was the Broncos pick. Personally, I do not think he should be a left tackle from day one. Ideally, he would start out on the right side for a year or two and work on his balance, footwork, and technique before moving to the left side in a year or two. Unfortunately, the Broncos do not have the current talent at left tackle for that scenario to play out, so hopefully, they think he can be the guy from day one.
So what do you think Mile High Report? Should the Broncos select Cam Robinson in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft? or go in another direction?
