According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Denver Broncos are among the teams showing interest in Central Missouri quarterback Garrett Fugate he is being called this year's Trevor Siemian.

Fugate is a 6'2", 210lb dual threat quarterback who is currently recovering from an ACL injury, much like Trevor Siemian was when he was entering the draft. Rapoport states that multiple teams have shown interest(including the Broncos) and worked out Fugate recently. Being a potential late round sleeper and his injury status has Fugate being called this year's Trevor Siemian.

After a successful Senior season at Central Missouri, the NFL started paying attention to the dual threat quarterback. This past season, Fugate totaled 3,657 yards passing and 31 touchdowns. He also added 145 rushing attempts for 457 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Like Siemian, Fugate will likely be a late 7th round draft selection or go undrafted and have to battle for the third quarterback spot on a roster, whether that be on the 53-man roster, or on a team's 10-man Practice Squad. His rookie season will likely mostly be a red-shirt season as he will be recovering from an ACL injury and he will then push for a bigger role on the team in 2018, much like Siemian did.

Unfortunately for Fugate, the odds are greatly against him. Forget what you think about Trevor Siemian as a starter, the fact he has started games in this league and at times has been a playmaking quarterback is pretty damn impressive. Most quarterbacks drafted in the range or ones who went undrafted at best become backup quarterbacks, but most end up out of the league rather quickly.

The Broncos are currently in the market for a third quarterback, and Head Coach Vance Joseph has indicated that they would like a third quarterback and that it would likely be a younger quarterback. So I wouldn't be shocked if the Broncos rolled the dice again on Fugate with one of their 7th round picks in hopes of getting themselves another Trevor Siemian.
