After the first few days of practice, the Denver Broncos players are feeling it in 2017. That sense of urgency seems to be back after a jet lagged Super Bowl victory hangover last season.

“I definitely feel the ‘juice’. You can feel everybody has a little pep in their step,” Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. said of the players sense of urgency. “Maybe it’s because of the new coaches. You have a clean slate and the opportunity to start over. It could be a lot of things. Last year, was a little bit lax on our part, just coming off that Super Bowl, but I think we got it back up.”

Von Miller was a little more relaxed about the urgency, noting he always plays with a sense of urgency yet is glad to be back at OTA’s for the first time since 2015 due to the contract talks last year that lasted well into the offseason.

His big thing has to do with the team culture and how the Broncos players conduct themselves on a day to day basis. Miller is the face of this team and this franchise and it shows in how he views this football team.

“It’s a great advantage,” Miller said of how veterans adjust to a new coaching staff. “We police ourselves in the locker room. We know what a good practice looks like. We know what a bad practice looks like. Nobody has to come and tell us. We have great coaches, so they’re going to stay on top of that as well. We have a great veteran core in the locker room like you said. Everything is able to run a whole lot smoother when you have those pieces in place.”

The best part of Wednesday’s press conference came from Von Miller when he was asked if part of him wishes he was selected number one overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. Miller’s response was golden, “Super Bowl 50 MVP, right? I’m good. I’m good with all of the decisions that were made. I’m happy to be a Bronco. I love it here.”
