The Denver Broncos officially announced their offseason workout program schedule on Monday. Their nine-week voluntary offseason program will begin on April 10th and run through the middle of June.

The offseason workout program has three phases clearly outlined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NFL and NFLPA, so there is no real deviation from these rules. The three phases are as follows:

Phase One: During the first two weeks of the program, teams may conduct only strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation activities.

Phase Two: The following three weeks may include on-field workouts, individual player instruction and drills. Teams can also conduct separated team practice with no live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills.

Phase Three: The final four weeks may include a total of 10 days of organized team practice activities (OTAs) and a mandatory veteran minicamp. Though teams are still not allowed to have live contact, they may conduct 7-on-7, 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.

April 10: First Day

Teams with new head coaches could have actually began on April 3rd, per NFL rules, but the Broncos chose to start a week later to remove any extra long breaks during the program.

April 17-21: NFL Schedule Release

This isn’t technically part of the official program, but these are dates us fans will care about. Knowing the 2017 Broncos schedule is kind of a big deal.

April 25-27: Voluntary Minicamp

The first big offseason event for the hardcore fans. Veteran Broncos players will show up to Dove Valley to get some voluntary work in.

April 27-29: The NFL Draft

As the Broncos players wrap up their voluntary workouts, John Elway and company will be gearing up for the biggest event of the NFL offseason calendar.

May 11-13: Rookie Orientation

Whoever the Broncos end up drafting, they will have their first exposure to the team with their rookie orientation.

May 23-25, May 30-31, June 1, June 5-8: OTA Offseason Workouts

Phase 3 of the workout program commences. This is the most important part of the early offseason program.

June 13-15: Mandatory Minicamp

All hands on deck for the Broncos coaches and players. This will likely be the last we see much of anything until Training Camp starts in late July.
