2017 Denver Broncos roster: Offensive lineman Justin Murray

The countdown continues as Mile High Report reviews every player on the 90-man roster.

Name: Justin Murray
Position: T
Height: 6-5 Weight: 304
Age: 24 Experience: 1
College: Cincinnati

Justin Murray signed a reserve/future contract with the Broncos on January 5th, 2017. After joining the Broncos in training camp in 2016, and getting extremely limited action in preseason, Murray will look to impress and perhaps extend his career in the NFL a little longer.

Murray signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent last season, but failed to make the final roster. He has no career stats, and does not appear to be a front runner for grabbing a roster spot this season either.

The Good

As Mile High Report noted last season, Murray is athletic. This has not changed, and he has the ability to play well in an offensive scheme that requires athleticism from the tackle and guard positions. If nothing else, this could help him land a spot on the practice squad, which he was able to do last season.

The Bad

Unfortunately, Murray’s good could also be his bad. The Broncos offensive line is moving toward a power scheme that involves some nastiness in the trenches. While Murray’s athleticism can help him in the ballet of a zone blocking scheme, it won’t make him any stronger. This could be what really holds him back in the new Broncos offensive line rotation.

The Quotable

Nothing really. People aren’t generally interested in a practice squad offensive lineman and what he has to say. You can check out his interview, where he talks about his role on the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Roster Status

Murray will have some work to do to get beyond the practice squad. However, being in his second year will go a long way to helping him stick with the Broncos for another season. He is probably nothing more than a practice squad player.
