Horse Tracks: Pat Bowlen to the Hall of Fame

Don’t screw this up, NFL.

Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony

If you’re a fan, you know that Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen belongs in the Professional Football Hall of Fame. Last year two Dallas sportswriters helmed the selection committee for contributor nominees to enter the Hall of Fame and, shockingly, the looked within their own bathtub and selected Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over Pat Bowlen.

While Jerry Jones’ average record without Super Bowl winning coach Jimmy Johnson was impressive (okay, and Barry Switzer), Broncos Country went nuts over the egregious passing over of a more deserving candidate. Not only has Mr. B’s record been one of accomplishment on the field, it also features billion-dollar watermarks of success when it comes to television revenues for the league on the whole.

There have recently been mentions in sports media about the ‘push’ to get Pat Bowlen in as the lone contributor allowed by the Hall of Fame this year.

Push for Pat Bowlen to Hall of Fame expected to commence soon | ProFootballTalk
The momentum continues to build to put Broncos owner Pat Bowlen in the Hall of Fame. As explained by Mike Klis of 9news.com, the Contributors Selection Committee will meet next month to determine its finalist for the next class of inductees.

Pat Bowlen again expected to receive Hall of Fame consideration | 9news.com
In the early 1990s, about all that soared in this country were unemployment rates and the budget deficit.

Let this article join the chorus of people pulling for Mr. B. It was a travesty he didn’t get considered last year. Frankly, those Dallas writers without the vision to look outside the media buffet at AT&T Stadium should be ashamed of themselves. The NFL would not be what it is today without the leadership of Pat Bowlen.
