When Vance Joseph declared the Denver Broncos quarterback job an open competition, a guy like Trevor Siemian could have folded. Especially after coming off a first-year starting season throwing for nearly 3500 yards with nearly a 2-1 touchdown to interception ratio. Hardly numbers worth having your job taken away from you.
Instead, Siemian told NFL Network’s Will Selva he’s ready and excited for the battle ahead with teammate Paxton Lynch.
"I think the one word that comes to mind is competitive," Siemian said. "We're two young guys that want to play, want to succeed. We've done a good job learning from each other, pushing each other and, ultimately, I think the Broncos are going to be better as a football team (because of it)."
John Elway wasn’t happy with the offensive production in 2016 and showed nearly the entire offensive coaching staff the door in January, bringing in coaches who would be willing to tailor their scheme to fit the quarterbacks strengths. That should help both quarterbacks be the best they can possibly be.
This training camp is going to be a fun one, so enjoy it, Broncos Country.
