There’s reason to feel the excitement in the air.
Not because the second preseason game will take place tonight, but because after it’s over, we’re closer to real football and the start of the regular season. Since time is becoming limited, so are the chances for players to leave an impression on coaches and front-office personnel.
For the guys in that dubious spot, from whom are the Denver Broncos in need of a big game tonight against the San Francisco 49ers? Not that it will get them on the roster, but at least keep their hopes alive. On Friday’s The Afternoon Drive, Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro shared their list of guys. It’s not much of surprise that most of those players are on the offensive line.
Goodman listed three in particular - Max Garcia, Ty Sambrailo and Michael Schofield, and he’s absolutely right. At some point they have to show their worth to the organization. They must demonstrate that they are deserving of a roster spot, and tonight is one of the final chances for all three to do that.
Aside from that, there are some intriguing position battles to watch for against the 49ers. What do you think, Broncos Country, who needs to leave a positive mark in tonight’s game to keep their hopes alive?
MHR’s Tim Lynch joined the guys to discuss the buzz around the Broncos and, you guessed it, the quarterback battle.
