Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph has made his decision regarding the quarterback situation and that decision is ‘permanent’.
“No,” Joseph said of the Broncos quarterback competition. “It’s a huge deal to name a starter at any position. It’s a permanent decision. Obviously, outside of injury, that’s different. But, as far as Trevor being our guy, he’s our guy. That’s why time was not an issue. It was just getting it right so we’re not back pedaling in two weeks. Trevor is the guy.”
This makes complete sense given what we’ve all seen through the first two preseason games. Paxton Lynch has some serious flaws in his throwing mechanics leading to severe issues with consistency. He may have the bigger arm, but it is the little things that an NFL starter needs to succeed at week in and week out. Trevor Siemian is that guy.
Siemian looked very good against the San Francisco 49ers and if he plays like that consistently this quarterback competition will become a very distant memory. This next preseason game will be his chance to cement that perception heading into Week 1.
