Shaquil Barrett got some great news on Tuesday morning. In turn, so did the Denver Broncos.
Mike Klis tweeted that Barrett has been cleared to resume some football activity, and Nicki Jhabvala added he should move off the Non-Football Injury List. The NFI list is for injuries that happen outside of football and is different from the Physically Unable to Perform List. This is a great breakdown on the differences between the two. It was reported in late May that Barrett injured his hip and would miss two-three months.
News is getting better for Broncos: OLB Shaq Barrett (hip) has been cleared to resume some FB activity today. #9Sports— Mike Klis (@MikeKlis) August 22, 2017
While it is great news for the Broncos and Barrett, as Andrew Mason tweeted, expect the team to proceed with caution to avoid any setbacks. Still, Barrett returning to football activity is a big step forward. He’s a big piece of Denver’s defense and the success the unit and team have this year.
Whether that means Barrett is ready for the season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers remains to be seen, but it’s great to see he’s on the right path. Nothing like getting some great news on a Tuesday morning.
