During a post-practice interview, Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph revealed the team’s plans for their quarterbacks. Trevor Siemian will start the first preseason game of the year when the Broncos travel to play the Chicago Bears.

Surprisingly, Joseph took things a step further and announced that the starter for the second preseason game has also been determined already: Paxton Lynch will start vs the San Francisco 49ers after a week of joint practices by the bay.

This would appear to indicate that John Elway meant exactly what he said when he reportedly stated that the real competition between the Broncos’ two QBs would take place in preseason action. Both QBs will get a chance to impress as starters before either is handed the reins.
Not only that, but both players will likely get exposure with portions of the first team offense in both of the first two preseason matchups:

Some pretty significant questions have now been answered. But it’s up to these two young quarterbacks to answer the biggest question: Who’s going to win this starting job?
We’ll find out in the next two weeks.
