The Denver Broncos announced tonight that they have agreed to terms with quarterback Brock Osweiler on a one-year deal. He’ll have a physical on Monday before this deal can become official.

Osweiler is signing a one-year, $775,000 deal with the Broncos which is a damn good deal. Now here’s the kicker. The Cleveland Browns will be paying the remaining $15.225 million dollars remaining on Brock Osweiler’s contract. So once again, John Elway is whooping on the Cleveland Browns organization.

Osweiler spent four seasons with the Denver Broncos and totaled 2,162 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. In 2015 when he had some extended playing time for the Broncos, he totaled 1,967 yards, 10 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and had a 61.8% completion percentage. He also had a quarterback rating of 86.7 for the Broncos in 2015. He had big wins over the New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals which helped the Broncos reach the postseason and secure the number one seed which helped them to advance and win Super Bowl 50.

The Broncos made the deal for Osweiler because Paxton Lynch is going to be out a total of five weeks with an injury to his throwing shoulder. This should sideline him until the end of September at least. So the Broncos went with the experienced Osweiler who knows Mike McCoy’s offense and has plenty of starting experience under his belt.

This also why they decided not to go with undrafted rookie Kyle Sloter. They didn’t feel like he was ready to step in and play with the first-team offense if anything happened to Trevor Siemian. He wasn’t groomed for that so now they hope they can get him on their 10-man Practice Squad.

So for now, Trevor Siemian is the man for the Denver Broncos, but if anything happens to him, and he is injury prone, we could see Brock Osweiler under center once again for the Denver Broncos. Oh, and the number 17 is available for him, so it’s like nothing changed.
