On Sunday, multiple reports came in saying that Vance Joseph would be fired sometime Sunday night or Monday morning. He led the Broncos to a 5-11 season and just had a rough go of it during his first-year of Head Coaching so it seemed inevitable.
Well, then things changed.
John Elway is going to sleep on it, meeting with Vance Joseph in morning, per source. Elway has not made decision but don’t be surprised if Joseph stays for second year. #9sports

It went from basically saying he’s done to now “sleeping on it”. Broncos players were pushing for Joseph hard after Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs, so that may have had some effect on the situation.
Then came reports that Elway, Russell, and Kubiak canceled their planned visit to the Rose Bowl today to watch Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield to have a meeting with Joseph this morning. I don’t think you cancel a trip and meet with a coach if you’re not firing him but we shall see.
Broncos’ HC Vance Joseph confident he will return for next season, and the signs starting to point that way:https://t.co/zO994FI3FY

Now, ESPN’s Adam Schefter who said yesterday that Joseph is “likely out” is now saying that signs are pointing to him staying for 2018.
It will come down to this, will Elway trust his initial gut feeling and fire Vance Joseph today or will he soften and give him one more year to prove his worth? I hope he moves on but as of this morning, it looks like he is staying.
We shall see once Elway awakes from his slumber and meets with Vance Joseph. The Broncos players meet with the media at 8:00 am M.T. so I have a feeling we’ll know something by then.
