Report: Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave and Defensive Coordinator Joe Woods are safe

The Broncos coordinators will return in 2018.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, both newly promoted Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave and Defensive Coordinator Joe Woods will be retained by the Broncos.

This is some positive news with the Broncos announcing a rash of firings on the offensive side of their coaching staff this afternoon.

We already knew that Musgrave would be safe after reports surfaced that the Broncos took off the intern label and promoted him to be the Broncos Offensive Coordinator.

Musgrave will be under the spotlight in 2018. He’ll either have a veteran starting quarterback to work with or a top prospect to groom or potentially both. The Broncos offense has struggled for a few years now so hopefully, he can have the same success as the Broncos OC as he did with the Raiders just one year ago. You think Carr and the Raiders offense missed him this season?

As for Joe Woods, he took over for Wade Phillips and did a good job all things considered for the Broncos. They finished 3rd in yards, 3rd in yards per game, 4th against the pass, 4th in net passing yards per game, 5th against the rush, 5th in rush yards per game, 22nd in points, and 22nd in points per game. What was disappointing was that they finished 22nd in sacks, but the offense had an effect on that.

The Broncos hope to see Woods grow in 2018 and hopefully continue their dominance in the pass and rush game next season and hopefully those sack numbers rise next season as well.
