Inclement weather is in the forecast for the Denver Broncos (2-3) Week 6 home game against the Los Angeles Rams (5-0) on Sunday, which might be a good thing. With a high of just 31° F and a high chance of snow in the morning, means we could have a sloppy field come mid-afternoon when the game begins.
The forecast on Saturday night has 1-3 inches of snow, with more snow showers in the morning of up to another inch. That could make the seven-point spread in favor of the Rams less likely as both teams could be limited offensively.
This greatest show on turf may not be as great on sludge.
Even so, the Broncos are clearly over-matched offensively and will need every advantage they can get to slow the Rams down enough to compete for a win. They can do this, in my opinion, by running the ball significantly on Sunday.
The Broncos lead the league in rushing yards before first contact and Royce Freeman ranks fifth in the NFL in rushing yards after first contact. They need to take advantage of these numbers as Freeman has done this despite facing mostly 8-man boxes when he carries the ball.
