To add insult to injury, John Elway traded the longest tenured Bronco, Demaryius Thomas, to the Texans this week and plan to honor him during the game.
“I think that the goal was—we were not hell-bent on trading Demaryius,” John Elway said on Tuesday. “If the value was there and if we felt the value was there, we felt that it could help us that way as far as the draft the next. We thought that with the young guys behind him that we could make up for the space that he would leave. We got the value that we thought was fair, and that was the most important thing. It’s never easy when you trade a guy that’s been a household name here for a long time and done a lot of great things, not only on the football field but also in the community and was a good man. Plus, it’s a good spot for Demaryius. He’s going to a good football team that’s in a pennant race where he’s going. It’ll be good for him, too.”
That’s not going to be surreal and distracting at all.
It is unknown how many snaps Thomas will get against the Broncos, but you can be assured that the Texans intend to try and capitalized on the emotions of the day to get Thomas in position to make a few plays.
Kickoff is set for Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 2:05 p.m. Mile High time at Broncos Stadium at Mile High in Denver, Colorado.
