Denver Broncos and Houston Texans injury report: Five Broncos sit out practice

Here is your Wednesday injury report.

The Denver Broncos and the Houston Texans released their first injury report of the week today ahead of their Sunday afternoon match up. For the Broncos, they had five players sit out practice including multiple starters.

For the Broncos, rookie running back Royce Freeman(ankle), rookie wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton(knee), inside linebacker Brandon Marshall(knee), cornerback Bradley Roby(ankle), and safety Darian Stewart sat out practice.

With DeShaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins, and now Demaryius Thomas coming into the town, the Broncos secondary will be facing a tough test. However, they had two starters miss practice today. Despite their absence, Head Coach Vance Joseph isn’t concerned about his secondary despite the injuries.

“I have no concern. We have guys that are capable. At corner, we’ve got two veterans in [Tramaine] Brock and Adam Jones, along with Isaac [Yiadom]. Brock’s played really well the last two weeks, so I’ve been really impressed with him. Adam Jones is healthy now, so I have no concerns there. I thought [S] Justin [Simmons] played really well last week and I thought [S Will] Parks had his moments where he did some good stuff, but also had some bad plays. He’ll learn from those. [S] Dymonte Thomas is here and [S] Shamarko Thomas, so we’ve got capable guys. We really do.”

With Thomas traded to Houston, many expected rookie DaeSean Hamilton to get an increased amount of reps going forward, however, the team and Hamilton will have to wait a few more weeks for that to happen.

The rookie wide receiver told reporters he is targeting a Week 11 return from the MCL sprain he suffered against the Cardinals. Look for Tim Patrick to get some increased looks this week while he sits out.

In some more positive news on the injury front, Head Coach Vance Joseph said that wide receiver Jordan Taylor and safety/linebacker Su’a Cravens are “ready to come up on the roster.”.

“Jordan had a good day today, he’s doing fine. Su’a’s been good for about a week and a half. Obviously, those guys are ready to come up to the roster, so a move has to be made to get them up. We’ll see.”

As for the Texans, the only player to sit out practice was inside linebacker Zach Cunningham. However, they did have 9 players listed as limited for today’s practice.
