The Denver Broncos are moving on from punter Marquette King and starting Colby Wadman in Week 5 against the New York Jets. King will be placed on injured reserve, then released once healthy to play again.
Broncos have placed P Marquette King on IR with plans to release him when healthy in week or two. Colby Wadman will be promoted to 53 and punt Sunday at NY Jets. #9sports— Mike Klis (@MikeKlis) October 6, 2018
King signed a three-year. $6 million contract with the Broncos in April, but Denver won’t suffer too much pain on the dead money side of things as King will count just $166,666 against the cap through 2020. They will also eat $1.5 million of King’s salary this season.
In the Mile High air, King has not impressed through three games. Against the Kansas City Chiefs, he had a net of just 28.7 yards. The Broncos obviously hope to get better production out of Wadman moving forward.
