Report: Marquette King to be placed on IR; released when healthy

The Denver Broncos have seen enough of Marquette King as they place him in injured reserve with the plan being to release him when healthy.

The Denver Broncos are moving on from punter Marquette King and starting Colby Wadman in Week 5 against the New York Jets. King will be placed on injured reserve, then released once healthy to play again.

King signed a three-year. $6 million contract with the Broncos in April, but Denver won’t suffer too much pain on the dead money side of things as King will count just $166,666 against the cap through 2020. They will also eat $1.5 million of King’s salary this season.

In the Mile High air, King has not impressed through three games. Against the Kansas City Chiefs, he had a net of just 28.7 yards. The Broncos obviously hope to get better production out of Wadman moving forward.
