The Denver Broncos (3-6) are on the brink as the losses begin to mount. It doesn’t get any easier in Week 11 as they travel to take on a strong Los Angeles Chargers (7-2) team that is currently on a six-game winning streak. Oddmakers feel the same as they put the Chargers at a touchdown advantage over the Broncos in this game.
Frustration is beginning to mount with the players as Derek Wolfe lamented to Nicki Jhabvala about the situation this week.
“I thought we were going to have a quarterback. I thought we were going to keep a lot of the guys on the defense,” he said. “That’s why I took that haircut. A huge haircut, because I wanted to stay here and be a part of the best defense to play it. I didn’t know that Wade (Phillips) was going to end up leaving. I thought I would have Wade for a while. Nothing against Joe Woods, I just was really comfortable with where I was at. Then everything changed.”
It certainly seems like this is now a team in transition, with plenty of players looking for fresh starts - either here with new staff or elsewhere. How this team continues to put together strong, albeit losing, performances each week is a testament to the players desire to compete and win games.
Unfortunately, for all involved, the wins just aren’t happening again this season.
Kickoff is at 2:05 p.m. Mile High time on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at ROKiT Field at Stubhub Center in Carson, California.
