Broncos have to win next three to stay in contention

Phil Milani joined First and 10 at 10 to discuss the Broncos season.

For the Broncos to make a run at the playoffs they will likely need to go on a three game winning streak out of the bye. Phil Milani joined First and 10 at 10, and he believes anything less is the end of the season. The path to the playoffs was still wide open after the Arizona game, but they needed to win one game against the Chiefs or the Texans.

... after Arizona they had the Chiefs and they had the Texans... if they want to make the playoffs they’re gonna have to split one of those two.

After failing to win one of those games, the idea of making the playoffs all but evaporated. Denver really only has one shot at turning the season around. It will take a miracle streak against three good teams. Sitting at 3-6 means the likelihood of making the playoffs is almost nil. Any loss against the Chargers, Steelers, or Bengals will be a wrap on the season.

When Steve Atwater asked Milani about offseason moves, the one position that really stood as a place to target was cornerback. Chris Harris Jr. has recently spoken about his desire to have more of an impact on the game, but teams are able to avoid him. The other corners haven’t been able to fill the void left by Aqib Talib, which has allowed opponents to throw away from Harris.

With the arrival of the bye week, Broncos Country is looking for reasons to tune in on Sundays. The season is not over yet, but conversations will continue to focus on the future is Denver can’t find a way to string together some wins.
