National Media roasting VJ

Credit to SI , it is on their front page today. When even the National media is calling the coach clueless, the Front office better take notice. I doubt they will unless they see a revenue hit with empty seats. If Elway again spins this as team fighting well and Injuries air cover, Broncos will be stuck in Coach purgatory for the next five years and VJ will continue to ruin any draft picks in 2019, 2020.

But, whoa boy, it’s tough to stomach what Vance Joseph has done in the second half of this season. There was the brutal string of decisions that cost them against Houston in Week 9—attempting a loooonnnng field goal at the end of the first half which then gave the Texans a chance to get three points of their own (which they did), then the ultra-conservative play at the end of the game, settling for yet another loooonnnng field goal that missed, adding up to a 19-17 loss.

What happened on Saturday night was unconscionable. Down four with 4:39 to go, facing a fourth-and-1 at the Cleveland 6, Joseph sent out the field-goal unit.

Also another article on SI accurately captures the players themselves being stunned with VJ's calls.

The offensive line wanted to go for it badly; guard Jared Veldheer and others tried in vain to wave off the incoming field goal team. But Joseph chose to kick it, preserving a Browns lead they would not relinquish.

"Yes, we wanted to put it in!" offensive tackle Garett Bolles said. "It’s fourth-and-one, and the game’s on the line. We wanted to do it. But at the same time, that’s the coach’s call. We had plenty of chances to get it in before that."

"I was hoping we were going for the win," Roby said. "We were down corners. We had one healthy corner. We were one yard away. I just knew we were gonna go for it, and when we didn’t, I was disappointed. I’m just upset."
