Broncos place Chris Harris Jr. on injured reserve; sign CB Craig Mager

With no playoffs, the Denver Broncos don’t see the need to risk pushing Chris Harris Jr. back from injury for Week 17.

The Denver Broncos have placed cornerback Chris Harris Jr. on injured reserve and signed cornerback Craig Mager to fill the roster out.

Harris was on schedule for a return to the playoffs from a fractured fibula, but when the Broncos were officially eliminated from playoff contention last week the decision was made to shut him down for the rest of the season.

When asked about the possibility, Harris noted in an interview that was re-aired on Orange & Blue 760 Wednesday morning that it would probably make sense to send him to IR and let some of the younger players get some much needed game experience so they could come out next year even better.

Harris was having a fantastic season before suffering that injury and was selected as an alternate to the 2018 Pro Bowl.

Mager is a fourth-year player and former third-round pick who has played sparingly for the Los Angeles Chargers over the last four years.
