Calikula's Imperial Weekly Thread: Friends In Low Places Edition

David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Monday folks! Welcome to the first CIWT of December 2018. Another weekly thread to not discuss the NFL season on this NFL Broncos site, but exceptions can be made since the good guys are on a roll right now. Unlike most NFL fans, I spent my Sunday night watching Garth Brooks Live from Notre Dame, so this CIWT will see a theme following Garth Brooks, country music, and music in general. Also, 'tis my birthday on Monday, though I must admit when you've gotten older the day loses its meaning.

Last week’s thread explored the always enjoyable SAUWR statistic, single-letter typos turning beloved members into Roman emporers that have a rather unfair reputation, public schooling, and who could ignore the fact that it was our 1st ever CIWT from across the pond?!?! Stick around and see what we talk about this week!

1. Times have changed, and thus so has the thread. Cursing is now allowed, as long as it is (mostly) PG-13. If not, (and you know how) use our wonderful blackout feature. :)

2. Leave bad blood at the door. If you've got a beef with someone, don't continue it here.

3. Leave trolling at the door as well. Just do. Let’s leave the trash talking of other teams for other threads. Gotta set the example, so we don't have to live with the consequences.

4. Certain topics that were once taboo - like politics or religion - are OK, but discuss without getting personal. Respect each other (see below), and if things get heated, then just drop it.

5. This thread is renewed on a weekly basis. Once the new thread is up, (Monday mornings) please unREC the previous one to retire it, and REC the new thread to promote it.

6. Respect each other.

7. (Retired for John Elway)

8. Finally, the thread was originally created to be a place to get away from the all of the pointless Broncos arguments, and remember that we're fans. There are plenty of other threads for that. If Broncos football does come up, let's keep it on the sunny side of life.

Don't follow these rules, and my Assassin Sadaraine will chastise you for weeks on end. And DocLLV will not allow you to be in the MHR Hall of Fame. Both of these are consequences you want to avoid.

Talking Points:

· Friends in Low Places (both physically and emotionally)

· If Tomorrow Never Comes - what would you do if you found out you only had 24 hours to live?

· Shameless - What are your guilty pleasures (or following the song, not guilty)

· Beaches of Cheyenne - What are your favorite vacation spots, not limited to beaches (ideally you're not there because you've gone half-crazy)

· Unanswered Prayers - What are some things you really wanted to do/be but it turned out better that you didn't get or become them?

· Ireland - There has to be something to bridge last week to this week. Run with it.

· Artists/bands you have always wanted to see perform live but couldn't or haven't yet

· Discuss theories as to why country music has turned into such crap (with some notable exceptions)

Imperial Quote(s) of the Week:

"There are questions I'm still not wise enough to answer, just wise enough to no longer ask." - George Jones

"Let me tell you a secret about a father's love,/A secret that my daddy said was just between us."/He said, "Daddies don't just love their children every now and then./It's a love without end, amen, it's a love without end, amen." - George Strait

"There's nothing written in the Bible, Old or New testament, that says, 'If you believe in Me, you ain't going to have no troubles" - Ray Charles

Enjoy
