One of the most common mantras in the NFL is “next man up.”

For the Denver Broncos that is rookie running back Royce Freeman. With Phillip Lindsay out for Sunday’s game versus the Los Angeles Chargers with a wrist injury, Freeman will be the guy in the backfield.

On Friday’s 1st & 10 @ 10 on Orange and Blue 760, Freeman told Ryan Edwards, Andrew Mason and Steve Atwater that he’s looking forward to the opportunity on Sunday. It serves as the last chance for Freeman to show the Broncos what he can do heading into the 2019 season. While he hasn’t flashed as much as Lindsay, Freeman has been fun to watch since training camp, and his continued development will only make the offense and team better.

Sunday serves as a great confidence boost for Freeman to keep busting his ass to become a guy who makes a difference whenever he’s on the field.
