The Denver Broncos and the San Francisco 49ers released their first injury report of the week ahead of their game this Sunday. Unfortunately for the Broncos, they lost wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders for the year during today’s practice due to a torn Achilles.

It was one of those dreaded non-contact injuries during today’s practice. Sanders was quickly added to the season-ending injured reserve and the Broncos claimed former Bills wide receiver Andre Holmes to fill his spot on the roster.

It’s another tough blow to the Broncos squad who has lost key veterans like center Matt Paradis, cornerback Chris Harris Jr., linebacker’s Shaq Barrett and Brandon Marshall, defensive end Derek Wolfe, and now wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to lengthy injury stints.

However, they keep winning, so there is that.

As for the rest of the injury report, linebacker Shaq Barrett, cornerback Tramaine Brock and Chris Harris Jr., and defensive end Derek Wolfe sat out practice.

Barrett and Harris are already ruled out for this weekend’s game while defensive end Derek Wolfe is considered day to day with a rib injury. Wolfe’s status will be something to watch as we progress throughout the week. Veteran cornerback Tramaine Brock is also dealing with a rib injury and his status will also be something to watch this week. If he is unable to go, look for recently signed corner Jamar Taylor and rookie cornerback Isaac Yiadom to get playing time in his place.

Veteran linebacker Brandon Marshall put in a limited session today and is nearing a return to the field after sitting out multiple weeks with a knee injury. Rookies Josey Jewell and Courtland Sutton were also listed on the injury report but put in full practices.

As for the 49ers, their starting running back Matt Brieda sat out practice with an ankle injury. His status will be something to watch as well.
