If the Denver Broncos end up parting ways with Aqib Talib, the New England Patriots or Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be his most likely landing spots.
According to Sporting News, Talib will be a cap casualty and two teams are already emerging has his primary suitors once that happens.
Talib turned 32 this week, and Denver needs to cut him in order to save a good chunk of salary-cap space. Look for one of his former teams, New England or Tampa Bay, to be his next landing spot.
Talib is a prime cap casualty as the Broncos can free up $11M in cap space by trading or cutting him, which is what they will need to do if they intend to go all in on the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes.
From now until free agency begins, Talib will be shopped. Many teams will likely wait for the ultimate cut day, but other teams would be foolish not to take advantage of Talib’s cap-friendly deal as he’d likely command a much higher price on the open market.
In four seasons with the Broncos, Talib has spearheaded the No Fly Zone with six touchdowns and a first-time All Pro selection in 2016. At 32, he seems to be getting better with age.
