The Miami Dolphins reportedly plan to use the franchise tag on wide receiver Jarvis Landry, rather than lose him to free agency in March. This move will definitely thin up the wide receiver market, which should up the value of a guy like Emmanuel Sanders who is on the trade block from the Denver Broncos.

Landry was easily going to be seen as the top free agent wide receiver on the market, having averaged 100 receptions and over 1,000 yards in each of his first four seasons. That kind of production is hard to find, even in today’s pass-happy NFL.
Meanwhile, Sanders has seen his production consistently slip away from his career year in 2014. He finished with just 47 receptions for 555 yards in 2017. Part of that can be blamed on poor quarterback play, but a lot of it has to do with his size and inability to get through the muck at times.
The Dolphins did the Broncos a favor with this move as John Elway might be able to find a few suitors for a trade now that the top wide receiver is off the market.
