John Elway says the Broncos will likely bring quarterback Baker Mayfield in for a pre-draft visit

Elway will get another look at Mayfield prior to the draft.

During Denver Broncos General Manager John Elway’s Combine presser, he said that the team will likely use one of their 30 pre-draft visits on Oklahoma quarterback, Baker Mayfield.

As we know, the Broncos requested and coached Mayfield during the 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl last month. Elway said he didn’t have a chance to speak with Mayfield while there, but the Broncos offensive coaches got to know the man and player during that time. Now they will have another chance to do that prior to the draft.

Mayfield is in play for the Broncos at five, but they will likely face competition for him if they decide to go that route during April’s NFL Draft. According to reports, the New York Jets are “VERY” interested in the reigning Heisman trophy winner. They have the sixth pick in the draft, one behind the Broncos and could look to move up past them to make sure they get Mayfield.

This, of course, all depends on where impending free agent Kirk Cousins lands in free agency. The Broncos will be strong players for Cousins and so will the Jets, so this will obviously shake up the draft.

If the Broncos do indeed miss on Cousins, look for Mayfield to visit the Mile High City prior to the 2018 NFL Draft.
