According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Denver Broncos are interested in cornerback T.J. Carrie and he believes they will hone in on him.

Carrie is a former undrafted rookie by the Oakland Raiders and is now entering his fifth-year in the NFL. He is only 27 years old and is listed at 6’0”, 205lbs.

Last season for the Oakland Raiders, Carrie totaled 84 tackles and 9 pass deflections. He has 3 career interceptions and 30 career pass deflections. He is a slot corner who would allow Bradley Roby and Chris Harris Jr. play out on the boundaries more.

He is coming off an excellent year according to Pro Football Focus. They gave him an 84.3 overall grade and ranked him as the 21st overall cornerback in the NFL in 2017. Pro Football Focus also called him the Oakland Raiders best cover guy on their team in 2017.

Oakland Raiders – CB T.J. Carrie – The Raiders pass defense has struggled all season long and have little to write home about. However, while manning the slot, Carrie has been a pleasant surprise earning a coverage grade of 82.0.No cornerback has more tackles resulting in an defensive success while defending the pass than Carrie’s 14.

NFL.com ranked Carrie as the 77th overall free agent this offseason and called the slot cornerback a “good one”.

“Slot cornerback” is essentially a starting position in today’s NFL, evidenced by Carrie’s 1,023 snaps in 2017. Carrie is a good one and adds return value, as well”

If this signing goes through, I would really like it. He’s young, coming off an excellent year and fills a big need on the Broncos defense. He also opens up a big hole on a division rival who already had major issues on the defensive side of the ball.
