According to Houston Chronicles Aaron Wilson, the Denver Broncos are among the teams who will have Washington nose tackle and likely first-round pick Vita Vea in for a pre-draft visit.
Washington DT Vita Vea, one of the top players in the draft, visits Cowboys, Buccaneers, Washington, Chargers, Giants, Bengals, Broncos, Browns, according to a league source— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) March 26, 2018
Vea is a massive prospect who figures to be a top 15 pick in April’s 2018 NFL Draft. He is listed at 6’4”, 347lbs, but he is rather athletic for a man of his size. He ran a 40 time of 5.1 seconds and put up a very impressive 41 reps of 225 on the bench press.
He is a freak and drawing Haloti Ngata comparisons.
Vea played three seasons at Washington and put up some impressive numbers. During his three-year career, he totaled 99 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 9.5 sacks, 5 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles.
The only way Vea goes to the Broncos is if they bypass a quarterback(or Barkley, Chubb, or Nelson) at 5 and trade back a bit. He is likely to be a top 15 pick but could sneak into the top 10
The Broncos do not have a big immediate need at nose tackle since they have veteran Domota Peko at the starting position. He is coming off an impressive first-year with the Broncos, but is getting up there in age and is entering the final year of his deal. Vea would likely be his eventual replacement but has the athleticism to play defensive end in the Broncos 3-4 scheme.
I personally do not see the Broncos as major players for Vea, but would not be upset if they added Vea to their defensive line.
