According to Chad Forbes, the Denver Broncos have reportedly engaged in trade talks with the Cleveland Browns for the 1st overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Forbes indicates that this is all highly dependent on where impending free agent Kirk Cousins lands in free agency.

This is just a rumor for now, but something that makes a ton of sense. Reports out there state that the Broncos are going “all in” on quarterback Kirk Cousins. This shows that Broncos General Manager John Elway will be aggressive and if he misses out on Cousins, he will turn his aggressiveness to the draft.

Cleveland Browns General Manager John Dorsey indicated that he is open to talking to other GM’s about trading for the number one overall pick as well.

“Any good GM wants to field calls from his peers, so why wouldn’t I? That’s why I say, ‘Guys, just give me a call. See what’s up.’”

The Broncos attention is fully on Kirk Cousins right now, but if he ends up in Minnesota or New York, the Broncos have to regroup and look at their option. My best guess is that their target in this rumored trade would be UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen. USC’s Sam Darnold is considered the top overall pick right now, but I believe that the Broncos prefer Rosen over Darnold. There have been plenty of whispers out there about the Broncos liking Rosen as well, so my gut tells me that would be the target.

I am not worried about the price. If Elway and his peers feel like Rosen or Darnold is their next quarterback of the future, give up whatever you need.

In the end, It is going to be a fun few weeks for us as John Elway and the Broncos work towards fixing their quarterback position for the foreseeable future.
