After some iffy reports earlier this afternoon by CBS’s Jason La Canfora that indicated that the Broncos were out of the race for Kirk Cousins, the Broncos PR machine worked quickly to shoot that down.
9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis who often speaks for the Broncos and acts as their PR man shot down these reports by stating that team and player sources are indicating that they remain very interested in signing quarterback Kirk Cousins.
That's not what I'm hearing. Team and player sources indicate Broncos remain interested and very much in play for Kirk Cousins. #9sports https://t.co/oD2n9zG9zi

Klis even went after Bleacher Report’s draft expert Matt Miller who said he has heard the running for Cousins is down to two teams.
Matt, expecting your podcast to include the Broncos as one of your teams for Cousins. #9sports https://t.co/6riib4rsfH

Does this mean the Broncos get Kirk Cousins? No, but they’re still very much in the hunt. Klis is the most connected guy when it comes to the Broncos and anything he says that is cited by “sources” comes straight from the Broncos. So I’ll take his word over Canfora’s each and every time.
It’s going to be a long week of reports and rumors before the legal tampering period kicks off next week. It will continue longer with Cousins expecting to make multiple visits much like Peyton Manning did when he was a free agent.
This is only the beginning Broncos Country. So hold your butts, we are in for a wild ride.
Update:
Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports' added his two cents to this news as well.
Lot of Kirk Cousins stuff flying around. Consider: The #NFL teams interested in him are ALL trying to keep other QBs on the stove for fallback purposes. The easiest way to do that? Tell the agents of other QBs that they *might* be falling out of the Cousins mix. I don't buy it.
