Final Denver Broncos 2018 Mock Draft

Happy Easter to all of Broncos Country! In this edition I will be dishing out my final Mock Draft of 2018. The NFL Draft is only three weeks away and many fans are excited to see what Elway & Co. have in store for Denver Broncos. Will Elway take a Quarterback at 5? Will the Broncos deal their 5th Overall pick and give Paxton Lynch a shot? or will Denver spend it on the best player available? Say Roquan Smith or Quenton Nelson? Fans are eager to know what actions Elway will take. Here is who I think Elway will take at each round if the board falls into Denver's favor.

1st Round Pick (5th Overall) - Baker Mayfield Quarterback, Oklahoma.

Denver signed Case Keenum to a 2yr Deal, and no Denver fans Broncos do not view Keenum as a long term solution. The Broncos failed with Paxton Lynch. I opposed the trade for Lynch because I felt it was a reach but the Quarterback position will always have inflated evaluations because of how hard it is to find franchise Quarterbacks. I was optimistic about Paxton's growth but it seemed like he never made the progression many expected, its also fair to say that Denver never really given him a legitimate shot to prove himself. Limiting his reps did more harm than good and his lack of on field experience showed. Adding arguably the best and most productive Quarterback in the Draft makes sense and is a move that Denver maybe forced to make because of the lack of talent and longevity of their current Quarterbacks on their roster. Mayfield is often compared to Keenum by Denver fans which makes sense in some aspects but in no way is he the same player as Case Keenum. Baker is a much better and more consistent pocket passer than Keenum was while at Houston. Just because a guy can scramble outside the pocket and doesn't mean they're the same type of player, they share similarity but are two totally different players.

2nd Round Pick (40th Overall) - Ronald Jones Running Back, Southern California.

Ronald Jones was one of those prospects who I overlooked, I'll admit it, I regret it. Jones is by fare on of these most talented Running Backs in this class and I'd personally have him graded higher than Guice. Jones has one of the most compliment player comparisons in this draft, and that's Jamal Charles. The cutting ability, elite acceleration, and patience is what makes him a carbon copy of Jamal Charles. If Ronald Jones is available in the 2nd Round for Denver, its a move Denver should look to make. Jones, Booker, and Henderson could form on of the best backfield in the league, and probably the most athletic backfield as well. I love CJ Anderson and what he has done for the Broncos. He's always shown heart and given everything on the field and never took a day off. Unfortunately the Running Back position has been in danger for veterans. There is a surplus of Running Backs coming out of college every year and its making it difficult for vets to secure their jobs because they'll be deemed replaceable. As much as I would wish CJ Anderson will remain a Bronco its hard not to imagine that Denver will move on from him.

3rd Round Pick (71st Overall) - Deon Cain Wide Receiver, Clemson.

Denver has for long suffered from lack of talent from their #3 WR spot and with rumors that Broncos will move on from Sanders after 2018 makes sense for Denver to target this position early in the draft. Deon Cain is a versatile receiver who can attack the intermediate and deep routes like Sanders. I feel Cain has been one of the unappreciated prospects in this years draft and I think he's much better than a lot of other WRs in this class that many folks have graded others higher than him. Clemson's QB play has been disappointing which has reflected on Cain's talent, in my opinion he'll be among one of the most productive WRs in this class, along with Calvin Ridley.

Sanders trade market maybe better in 2019. Teams will more than likely be willing to take on a expiring contract.

3rd Round Pick (Compensatory Selection, 99th Overall) -Will Richardson Offensive Tackle, N.C. State.

Dear Denver fans, while I am not against the Veldheer trade, I am here to tell you not to expect nothing great from him. Now he'll definitely be more consistent than Menelik Watson but Veldheer has a ton of talented Pass Rushers outside of the AFC West that he will have to face this year and it could be ugly for Denver. Adding a young Offensive Tackle with good upside would be wise for Denver at this point. Its a spot where Denver wouldn't have to reach as they have done with Sambrailo.

4th Round Pick (106th Overall) - Malik Jefferson Inside Linebacker, Texas.

Denver signed Todd Davis to a contract extension but don't let it fool you. Broncos were willing to let Davis walk but were surprised by Nelson moving on to play for Philly. Davis is on contract that still makes him movable and Denver's Inside Linebacker depth is weak at this point. Jefferson is a very good off ball Linebacker when put in attack mode could make a lot of eye opening players, he's one of the best cover LBs in the draft but still needs improve on his man skills.

4th Round Pick (113th Overall, via Redskins) - Durham Smythe Tight End, Notre Dame.

5th Round (149th Overall, via Redskins) - Mike Love Edge, South Florida.

5th Round Pick (160th Overall, via LA Rams) - Tony Adams Guard/Center, N.C. State.
