The Denver Broncos were not satisfied with the production they receive from Riley Dixon, so when the Oakland Raiders surprisingly cut one of the best punters in the NFL in Marquette King, they pounced.
The decision was easy. After all, King’s best games seemed to happen against Denver.
“I know I’m going to put the work in like I always do,” King said of his past success against Denver. “That’s no question. Just compete and hopefully everything works out like it’s supposed to.”
The competition with Dixon in training camp could be a fun thing to watch. Dixon will understand that his job is on the line and King is going to have fun with it. Plus the altitude.
“I think when it comes to punting out here, the ball definitely travels a lot further,” King said of the altitude. “There is a lot more you can do with the altitude. I’ve always enjoyed punting out here in the altitude just because the ball travels further. It’s something I’m going to have to get used to too. I definitely have to get a feel for my leg when it comes to putting the ball inside the corners and everything. Denver is a punter’s paradise. While I’m competing, I’m going to see if I can take advantage of it.”
I mean, without the thin air he can kick it 87-yards. So yeah... it should be a fun camp battle.
