According to Field Yates of ESPN, defensive lineman Clinton McDonald failed his physical on June 11, which dropped his base salary from $3 million to $1 million. McDonald, 31, will have a chance to earn it all back if he makes the final 53-man roster and if he is on the team’s 46-man game day roster each week of the regular season.
The Broncos signed McDonald to a 2-year deal during free agency after he played four-years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl championship team after beginning his career with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2009 as a seventh-round draft pick.
The tenth-year veteran is looking to compete for playing time within a fairly deep interior line for the Broncos. With Derek Wolfe, Adam Gotsis, Shelby Harris, and now DeMarcus Walker in the mix, McDonald will need to get onto the practice field soon if he is going to compete for that final 53-man roster spot.
