According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, free agent wide receiver Philly Brown is in Dove Valley as we speak taking a physical. If he passes the physical which is expected, Brown will sign a deal with the Broncos and be on the practice field come Saturday morning.

It was reported earlier today that the Broncos had interest in Brown and that interest turned into a physical and likely a deal.
The Broncos are bringing Brown in after they placed two wide receivers, former third-round pick Carlos Henderson and undrafted rookie Jimmy Williams on the did not report list. This opened up two spots on the 40-man roster and they filled them with rookie Mark Chapman and now veteran Philly Brown.
Obviously, I do not know the specifics behind Henderson’s absence, but the fact they filled his roster spot so quickly likely does not bode well for his future with the team. It also shows they do not plan on him joining the team anytime soon.
As for Brown, he is entering his fourth year in the NFL and has spent the majority of his career on the Carolina Panthers roster. During those three-years with the Panthers, Brown totaled 79 receptions for 1,019 yards and 7 touchdown receptions. Brown signed with the Bills last season but only spent one week on their roster and did not register any stats for the 2017 season.
Now Brown will add some veteran depth to the Broncos wide receiving group that appears pretty loaded right now. Veterans Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders are your starters while rookies Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton are locked into a roster spot as well. That leaves one or two spots for Brown and he will be competing against Jordan Taylor, Isaiah McKenzie, River Cracraft, Mark Chapman and others for those final two spots.
