Rookie wide receiver Courtland Sutton routinely made impressive high point receptions during the Broncos Training Camp practices earlier this month. However, he has yet to make one of these highlight-reel catches during an actual game.

Well, that changed Friday night when Sutton made one of his classic high pointed catches against Washington which resulted in a big gain for the Broncos offense.

Sutton made this impressive play against a name brand player too. While Josh Norman isn’t the same player he was during the Carolina Panthers run to the Super Bowl, he is still a solid corner with a good amount of NFL experience under his belt and Sutton did that to him.

Watch this clip again. How do you cover that?

Sutton who is already a big man at 6’4”, is able to time his jump perfectly and get the ball at its highest point. Not only that, but he has impressive body control while in the air and positions himself well to box out the defender while he makes the catch.

Again, how do you cover that?

After the game, The Denver Channel’s Troy Renck tweeted out that one veteran reportedly even called Sutton “Megatron Jr.”.

As you know, former Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was nicknamed “Megatron” for his impressive play. Now while Sutton has been impressive, he has a long ways to go before he lives up to that nickname. However, if he continues to make plays like this, it won’t be long before Sutton rises to fame the way Johnson did with the Lions.

On the night, Sutton hauled in 3-of-3 targets for 45 yards while nearly being an every-down player for the Broncos offense. It is safe to assume that Sutton has locked himself in as the Broncos number three wide receiver and will be a weapon on the outside for quarterback Case Keenum.

Sutton figures to be a constant big-play threat for the Broncos on the outside and could have himself an impactful rookie season. Just one of the many Broncos rookies who figure to have a big and positive impact on the Broncos 2018 season.
