A bit of a shocking move.

According to 9NEWS Denver’s Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos have waived 2017 sixth round pick, running back, De’Angelo Henderson.

This is a bit of a shocker but still not a huge surprise. Despite being a fan favorite, Henderson was surpassed by Phillip Lindsay on the depth chart and was on the roster bubble. The Broncos decided to move on and roll with Royce Freeman, Devontae Booker, and Phillip Lindsay at running back. The fate of seventh-round pick, Dave Williams remains unknown.

Henderson was a sixth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and quickly became a fan favorite. His play during the preseason was impressive, but it didn’t amount to many regular season reps.

He had 7 carries for 13 yards for the Broncos which resulted in a poor 1.9 yards per carry. He did haul in two catches for 36 yards and his lone NFL touchdown.

Henderson does have practice squad eligibility so he could land back there but first will have to make it through waivers unclaimed. There were reports that teams were showing interest in Henderson so we shall see how that goes.
