Gary Kubiak has interviews lined up with Vikings and Jaguars

The Denver Broncos have allowed Gary Kubiak to seek an offensive coordinator position with another team.

Update: Kubiak will join the Vikings staff in an advisory role.

The split between the Denver Broncos and Gary Kubiak is all but official at this point as the team has given him permission to interview with other teams. His first stop will be with the Minnesota Vikings, then will interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday.

The Vikings are an obvious choice as Kirk Cousins is a good fit for the scheme Kubiak wants to run and his backup will be none other than Kubiak’s chosen starter from 2016 in Trevor Siemian. The hire would make sense in a lot of ways and could be his best option to compete for a playoff spot in his next job.

If Kubiak ends up interviewing and being hired by the Jaguars, then the first task he’ll need to complete is finding a quarterback. In my opinion, Joe Flacco would make the most sense for the Jaguars if they hired Kubiak. He has his best season as pro with Kubiak as his offensive coordinator and would give that team a chance to build on his defensive success in 2017. The defense seemed like it quit midway through last season. A new coach and quarterback could help fix that issue too.

Either way, it sure looks like Kubiak won’t be with the Broncos anymore after this. He has been a critical part of this franchises success over the last few decades.
