Broncos have hired Rich Scangarello to be their Offensive Coordinator

The Denver Broncos get their guy! They have hired Rich Scangarello as their offensive coordinator.

According to Adam Schefter, the Denver Broncos have hired now former San Francisco 49ers Quarterback’s Coach Rich Scangarello to be their Offensive Coordinator.

Scangarello had an interesting route to an NFL Offensive Coordinator that really began to pick up steam just four years ago when he left a cozy job at Northern Arizona University for an intern position with the Atlanta Falcons in 2015 that saw his salary cut by 70%.

He took the risk to learn more from Kyle Shanahan who he had been watching from afar. In just three years as an assistant to Shanahan’s offense, Scangarello has done enough to be noticed by many around the league. Even more importantly for him, he was noticed by John Elway and Vic Fangio as they conducted their offensive coordinator search.

It’s a risk for the Broncos too, but by all accounts Scangarello puts in the work and adapts his play-calling to focus on scoring potential on every play. That is something to be excited about, despite the risk.

Welcome to Broncos Country, Rich!
