The Broncos have won two games in a row. I repeat, the Broncos have won two games in a row.
On Sunday, the Broncos dismantled and defeated the Tennessee Titans by the score of 16-0. The Broncos defense was the reason why the came away with this victory too. Vic Fangio’s defensive squad appears to have turned the corner as they sacked the Titans quarterback a total of 7 times. They also forced 3 interceptions and held the Titans offense to zero points. Shutouts are fun.

Head Coach Vic Fangio was asked about what impressed him the most about the Broncos defensive showing on Sunday and he told reporters that all three levels of the defense impressed him.
“It was impressive, like you said, at all three levels. Shutouts are hard to come in this league. We need somebody to do an analytics study about how often they do come. They don’t come very often and the only way to get one is to play good, sound defense, make a play occasionally when you’re in one-on-one situations because those are invariably going to come up. We made a few of those. We didn’t make them all, but the guys were just resilient and had a good mindset.”
Now, the Broncos are 2-4 and have a short week before hosting Patrick Mahomes and the suddenly slumping Kansas City Chiefs. They have lost two games at home to the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans. Both games were at home in Arrowhead too, so the Chiefs might be vulnerable right now.
A win on Thursday night would suddenly put the Broncos right back into the AFC West race after starting 0-4 to start the season. They would be one game out of first place and would hold the tie-breaker(for now) over the Chiefs if they do come away with the victory.
Now, even though the Chiefs are slumping, they are still a very tough team to beat. Mahomes is as talented as they come and that offense can score as quickly as anyone in the league. So the Broncos defense will need to continue to play at a dominant level like they have the past two weeks while the offense will need to eat the clock and score touchdowns instead of kicking field goals.
The question that will be asked all week before the kick-off on Thursday night will be, can the Broncos actually beat the Chiefs? They almost did last year at home(and probably should have since DT was wide open in the end zone late in the 4th quarter...). I think they can repeat the defensive performance they had against Mahomes last season again, but I worry about the Broncos offense.
Joe Flacco and that running game will need to put some points up on the board, eat the clock, and be effective on third downs and in the red zone. All these keys are important each week, but a perfect or near-perfect game will be needed by this offense if they want to come away with a victory.
Now I ask you Broncos Country, do you think the Broncos will beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night football?
