UPDATE: Broncos win!
The Denver Broncos (0-4) take their ‘world of suck’ to the road to take on their AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers (2-2) who are living in a ‘world of injuries’ in 2019. However, at least the Chargers are winning games...
For the Broncos, the frustration is starting to boil over in the locker room as players try to figure out how to win games again. Justin Simmons was asked about the atmosphere in the locker room and how things got a little heated between guys following another heartbreaking last-second defeat at home.
“Yeah, the way I looked at it at least is I’d be a little bit concern if after an 0-4 start, especially after the loss we had with Jacksonville, if guys weren’t a little frustrated. Coming into the locker room, obviously things got heated, but it all comes from a place of understanding of trying to win a game,” Simmons said. “We all are in this and we pour our hearts into it every week—preparation and things like that to go win a game. You could imagine being up 17-3 and then blowing that lead and losing that game at home when you’re already off to an 0-3 start, frustration what at its highest in terms of where we are at this point in the season. Yeah, it was frustrating. Obviously, things were said, but it was nothing more than coming from the heart of trying to win games. We look past that now, obviously it’s been addressed and we talked as a team, now we’re focused on the Chargers and we’re focused on trying to go get win number one in L.A.”
The tension is clearly high and will only get higher with each consecutive loss. The Broncos will be desperate for a win this week to avoid becoming the first 0-5 team in franchise history. We should expect some intense play from them... hopefully.
Kickoff is set for Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 2:05 p.m. Mile High time at ROKiT Field at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
