The Denver Broncos had waited a long time since Ja’Wuan James had played. He got 10 snaps in Week 1 before going down with a scary looking left knee injury. It turned out to not be a major injury, so here in Week 8 James was back in the lineup for the first time.

However, on his 20th snap he went down again with another injury on that same left knee. This one could ultimately spell an end to his 2019 season.
James was signed by the Broncos this offseason to a lucrative 4-year, $51 million deal with $32 million in guaranteed money. So far, that hasn’t paid off for Denver.
Even if the injury doesn’t require surgery again this time, the Broncos should just put James on injured reserve and try this again in 2020. It’ll likely be the same for one of their high priced free agents in Bryce Callahan who has been struggling to return from a foot injury he suffered in 2018.
