After Jacoby Brissett escaped the grasp of Von Miller at the end of the Broncos, it was no surprise to see some fans take shots at Von. It has become old hat to watch Denver lose in the final minute of a game this season. It has happened more often than any of us would like to recount.
However, as Ian St. Clair said on the 200th episode of the MHR Radio podcast (Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and Spotify), this loss isn’t on Miller and the rest of the defense. This loss is on a Broncos offense that failed to even score their 16-point average (which would have been enough to win). This loss is on Joe Flacco, a bad offensive line, terrible play calling, and just a continued brutal display of ineptness.
That’s not to say that there weren’t some standout performances on offense. Phillip Lindsey and Royce Freeman continue to be a solid 1-2 punch at running back. Courtland Sutton took the number one receiver role and performed like a number one. Dalton Risner continues to shine on a bad offensive line.
The frustration for Broncos Country continues, and is only exacerbated by the fact that this is now two-and-a-half seasons of bad football. Anytime a defense holds its opponent to 15 points, that should be enough.
In Denver, apparently it’s not.
