Update: The Broncos beat the Browns 24-19.
For the 2-6 Denver Broncos, the eye is now on 2020. Joe Flacco has injured his neck and could be sent to IR soon, which means it’ll be Brandon Allen for now and probably Drew Lock in the near future.
However, the Broncos will win or lose games based on their defensive play. Well, mostly. They keep losing, because their offense can’t make a play. In any case, Head Coach Vic Fangio is focused on keeping the defensive mindset right despite the mounting losses.
“I applaud their performance,” Fangio said on Monday. “I will when we meet, but also make them well aware that the way we ended the half wasn’t good and we have to make the play there at the end of the game. To me, the end of the game play that’s just—that happens every week in the NFL. Their good player against our good player and they made it. We didn’t.”
The other team keeps making those game-deciding plays and Denver does not. That’s just how it goes when a team is struggling to figure out how to return to excellence.
